e help writers and publishers sell books directly to fans. You can offer digital, paperback and hardback versions of your book to readers around the world from your own website and app. You set the price. You own all the intellectual property (IP). There is no exclusivity; you can offer your books on other platforms.

The revolutionary difference between our model and the traditional one of selling through Amazon or other big retailers is that you keep 75 per cent of the earnings for print and 90 per cent for digital. In the old print model, even the biggest publishers—once discounts, inventory costs and distribution are taken into account—make no more than 25 per cent of the cover price. Most small publishers and self-published authors make close to nothing. The economics of digital are worse. For example, for the vast majority of Kindle authors, bundling into ‘all-you-can-eat’ models means they see no earnings at all. In addition to receiving only a thin slice of revenue, payments take several months and you have no idea who bought your book.

On Stck, you collect your earnings every month; you know who bought your book, and you have their email address. This transparency is fundamental to building a long-term, sustainable model based on loyal readers. We take care of everything, including a world-class digital reading experience, payments, printing and shipping. There are no up-front or hidden fees; we charge a monthly subscription and a transaction fee (see our plans). You can start with a single chapter, a standalone book or your entire catalog.

In the first week of August, you will receive a link via email to accept your earnings ($2,500 minus 10-25% platform fees depending on your plan) from July into your bank account.

  • How much does it cost?

We have a free tier and a paid one. For free users, we keep 25% of all sales transactions. The Pro tier costs US$19.99 per month or US$200 per year. For Pro users, we charge 10% of digital sales and 25% of net physical sales. Net sales are defined as follows – if you price your book at US$10 and the print cost is US$3, then you keep 75% × (10 − 3). Shipping is paid by each fan according to their location, as are any local taxes.

  • Do I keep the rights to my work?

You own all intellectual property, with no exceptions. We reserve the right to use the materials solely to promote your work on stck, partner sites and social media. The User Agreement sets out the terms and conditions in detail.
